Today, 1 Nov '24, marks a monumental day as Germany’s self-determination law finally takes effect—a landmark achievement after 24 years of tireless advocacy.

After years of campaigning for self-determination, trans and non-binary Germans have a reason to celebrate today: Germany's self-ID law has just entered into force - saving them years-long wait times and costly proceedings.

Earlier this year, the German Parliament adopted a legal gender recognition law based on self-determination, ending decades of discrimination against trans individuals. The law takes effect tomorrow!
