I know his speed isn't the best—not to say below average—but he's a power forward with excellent puck control and size. I feel he could do some real damage playing alongside Demidov! Also, having Marty as coach would bring this guy to another level imo. His contract length, cap, and age fits perfectly with this club. He would also be cheaper to acquire. I've seen enough games from him to know he would be a great fit.
Larkin is not getting any younger and only has 5 games of playoff experience. His best season was 79 points with some PP1 time. He's also about to start his 12th season in the NHL. I don’t mind the player, but he’s not what we need, in my opinion.
As for Hischier, he’s about to start his 10th season in the league. He’s had one 80-point season, with his next best being 69 points. That was also with PP1 time, which he won’t get with the Habs.
On the most important piece of Canadiens offseason business for a second year in a row and what last year’s Lane Hutson contract negotiations may — or perhaps should — tell us about this year’s Ivan Demidov extension talks: https://t.co/mnwiWuIIbs
@5Ynks@Erik_Erlendsson Agree, but to say he doesn't deserve it is the wrong way to say it. My pick was also Ruff, but I'm not saying he didn't deserve it. All 3 candidates deserved it, IMO, which was why they were nominated in the first place.
@5Ynks@Erik_Erlendsson "he didn't deserve it this year, definitely not"
I mean, his team went 19-1-1 from December 20 to Feb 5 before the Olympics. During that time, he dealt with injuries to key players, so that's gotta count for something. To say he doesn't deserve it makes zero sens to me!
The Toronto Maple Leafs coaching search is getting more interesting. Sources say Patrick Roy and Peter Laviolette are a part of this weeks stage of the interview process.
