South Wales Police Halberdiers

The duty of Constables to carry Halberds on official occasions within the Borough of Swansea dates back many centuries.
The team have been reinstated 2018 .

Yesterday the team took part in the pass out of the current students before they start on Division ( BCU) at the Swansea. com stadium.
The team fielded for the full compliment of officers .

We are all very honoured to take part .

Yesterday the team attended the pass out of Student Constables at the Cardiff City stadium.

The team had the most members in attendance so far .

The course was the biggest pass out yet for SWP.

Good luck to the students when they start on Division.

Last night ( 15/12/22) members of the team took part in the annual Christmas service at St Marys, Swansea.
Present were the two council maces, as well as Lord Mayor, Lord Lieutenant , high sherriff and Arch Decon. As well as other high dignitaries and members of the public.

Last night members of the team were invited to carry out ceremonial duties at
St Thomas Church, Swansea, for an awards ceremony for volunteers and charities in Swansea and the surrounding areas.
present were the Lady lieutenant / Lord Mayor and High Sherriffs .

Last night the team had the pleasure of guarding the Lord Mayor of Swansea and Father Christmas at the Swansea Christmas parade . We were greeted by thousands of families lining all the streets on the route.
This is definitely one to attend for many years to come

Rememberence 2022
The team took part in both Cardiff and Swansea parades and services.
We found Cardiff was a huge and very moving service and parade.
Some of the team have not marched in front of so many people for a long time yesterday morning.

We're pictured alongside Rev Glynne James BEM. Glynne served in the Armed Forces before joining Swansea Borough Police in 1964.He also served as a Halberdier. He retired after 32 years service before becoming the first officially appointed police chaplain in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
