@mandapass@BarbaraDenning3 @RockingGroupie @SophieCorcoran0 It wasnt a false one. It simply didnt change the circumstances for YOUR family.
But the fact that it helped many other families similar to yours out of generations of council dependancy is an undeniable fact.
My family is living proof of it.
@mandapass@BarbaraDenning3 @RockingGroupie @SophieCorcoran0 Council houses were indeed reserved for people who needed a home and could not afford to buy or rent in the private market.
Which in the area me and my family were born and grew up in was 95% of the population. Working or not.
That's precisely the point
@iain_57 @SophieCorcoran0 You'd think that the Mining community were the only working class people in the country ffs.
Many other working class areas, equally deprived but with less work available.
Some areas werent lucky enough to have a mine on its doorstep.
@SophieCorcoran0 Even in Thatchers time. I lived through it.
From a poor East London neighbourhood decending from a family hardworking but council dependent.
My Grandparents the first to have an opportunity to buy there council flat.
It literally changed our family destiny.
Forever grateful
@AaronDmcfc @80sGeezer @MissDemeanor07@Crosscolin88@simoncosgrove So Aaron, You are not proud to be British because of perceived societal issues but rather enjoy your personal life living here.
Isn't that something to be proud of?
I presume you dont want to live in Bulgaria or Romania. Why is that?
@Baa71@terrychristian@Greyphil Let's not pretend, whilst posting a video creating a pretence.
And where immigrants come from is not the only thing that will change. You missed the most important part out: How they will come.
Completely coincidentally I'm sure
@terrychristian@Greyphil You don't have to worry about a P45 Terry. The Word ended over 20 years ago.
But what's your problem with more immigrants from the commonwealth?
