If Dreyfus were on trial today, those accusing Israel of genocide would be accusing Dreyfus of treason

1895, the sound of a breaking sword changed Jewish history forever.

It was a cold morning in Paris. January 5, 1895.
In the courtyard of the École Militaire, Captain Alfred Dreyfus was marched out before 5,000 soldiers.
He had been convicted of treason…spying for Germany.

We know today that he was entirely innocent. The evidence was forged. The real traitor (Walsin Esterhazy) was protected by the High Command. Dreyfus was chosen for one reason: He was a Jew.
But the French Army didn’t just want to imprison him.

They wanted to ritualistically destroy him.

They staged a "Degradation Ceremony."

An adjutant walked up to Dreyfus and ripped the gold braids from his uniform.

He tore the red stripes from his trousers.
He ripped the epaulettes from his shoulders.
Finally, he took Dreyfus’s sword, broke it over his knee, and threw the pieces into the mud.

Dreyfus, sobbing but standing upright, shouted into the void:
"I swear that I am innocent! I remain worthy of serving in the Army! Long live France! Long live the Army!"

But the crowd outside the gates didn't care about the facts.

They didn't scream "Death to the Traitor."
They screamed "Death to the Jews."

Standing in that crowd was a journalist named Theodor Herzl.

Herzl had spent his life believing that if Jews just acted "civilized" enough, if they dressed right, spoke French perfectly, and served their countries loyally, antisemitism would disappear.

He watched the most loyal, assimilated Jewish officer in France get destroyed while the mob cheered for the death of an entire people.

In that moment, Herzl realized the truth:
It didn't matter how "French" you tried to be. To them, you would always be a Jew first.
Safety would never be given. It had to be built.

Though condemned to life in solitary confinement, Dreyfus survived five harrowing years before the silence was finally broken. It was Émile Zola’s explosive open letter, J’Accuse…!, that exposed the conspiracy to the world, shaming the French government into the retrial that would eventually lead to his freedom.

But the sound of that snapping sword woke up the Jewish world.

We are still awake.

The truth. This book, written in Latin in 1695, describes the region called Palestine at that time.
Author Adriani Relandi was a geographer, cartographer, traveler, philologist.
He understood many languages, including Arabic, Ancient Greek and Hebrew.
He described nearly 2,500 settlements mentioned in the Bible, and made an approximate census according to settlements.

His notes;

1. Palestine is mostly empty, abandoned, sparsely populated. The main population is concentrated in Jerusalem, Akko, Tsfat, Jaffa, Tveria and Gaza.

2. The majority of the population is Jewish; almost everyone else is Christian. A very small part is Muslim, mostly Bedouin...
(Relandi refers to Muslims as nomadic Bedouins who come to cities only as seasonal workers in agriculture or construction.)

3. The only exception is Nablus, inhabited by about 120 members of the Muslim Natsha family and approximately 70 Samaritans.

4. About 5,000 people live in Jerusalem; almost all Jews, and a few Christians.

5. The names of most of the settlements are of Jewish origin, and some have Greek or Roman Latin names. Apart from the city of Ramla, there is no Arab settlement whose original name is Arabic.
Place names derived from Jewish, Greek or Latin are usually adapted into Arabic and meaningless...

6. Approximately 550 people live in Gaza, half of whom are Jews and half are Christians.

Jews were successful in agriculture, especially vineyards, olives and wheat, while Christians were engaged in trade and transportation..."
