The massive earthquake that struck Myanmar has left possibly thousands of people dead and hundreds of thousands devastated and suffering. Much of the infrastructure there is destroyed. Residents in the capital city have said there is “nothing left” and thousands of people are sleeping outside on the ground. The initial 7.7 quake and strong aftershocks that followed hit densely populated areas with high-rise buildings collapsing, and bodies are still being pulled from the rubble. @SamaritansPurse Purse is responding to help. We are sending our DC-8 cargo plane to pick up one of our Emergency Field Hospitals that we have prepositioned in our @SPCanada ministry center warehouse in Calgary, Alberta.

This will be a Tier 3 hospital which has 2 operating rooms, an emergency room, in-patient wards, a pharmacy, a laboratory, and staff of 80-130 with the necessary supplies. This includes doctors, nurses, water specialists, technicians, and other Disaster Assistance Response Team members to help in this crisis. We will be sending multiple flights as we take in more equipment and supplies to sustain the hospital and provide relief including blankets, emergency shelter material, hygiene kits, and other items.

Samaritan’s Purse has over 30 years of history working in Myanmar, and I was able to preach there in 2016. Pray for these suffering people and for our teams as we respond to bring help in Jesus’ Name.

Aftermath #MyanmarEarthquake, the death toll has now risen to 2,056, with more than 3,400 injured. Several people are still under rubble.

Most of effected people haven't received shelter, medical care and enough food.
