The Whitecaps are back on familiar turf this week, but will home cooking help them rediscover their form against San Diego as the race for top spot in the West heats up?

The Whitecaps wrapped up their road trip with a flat 1-0 loss to Colorado.

With Vancouver struggling to find its rhythm, the concern is less about the results themselves and more about the performances behind them.

A bit locked into this provincial election drama, but I'll gather my thoughts and the Post Match will be up in the AM.

Plenty to talk about.

Fulltime: The Whitecaps get dog-walked by a team in the play-in places and lose 1-0.

It's one of those games where grinding out a point would be a decent result, but failing to do so makes this a pretty concerning performance.

What an odd goal.

No less than the Rapids deserve, but a gut punch for the visitors with less than 10 mins left.

@largemagret He is not.

Better play on the ball there from #VWFC

[The Third Sub @The3rdSub]

Playing with fire here, more of what we saw in the first half, Whitecaps too loose and open in transition.

HT Thoughts:

-Pretty low event overall, lots of low quality looks from the Rapids, Vancouver only 0.05 xG
-Need sharper play on the ball entering the final third
-Defending has looked fine, other than maybe set pieces
-Badwal and maybe Selemani in the second half?

Sabbi is off, but Diaby will continue for now. Caicedo in.

Whitecaps were definitely second best through the first 20 mins but seem to be settling in now.

That said, both wingers could be subbing off after heavy challenges.

Rapids left open at the far post on the corner and that was nearly 1-0.

Priso and Takaoka there to stop it.

Here we go!

Whitecaps settling into a rhythm here with the XI.

Good to have Priso back starting, and can Diaby keep up his play?

It's a battle between two types of moving water!

The Whitecaps head to Colorado looking to build on their first win in a while, with the Rapids standing between them and another step towards clinching the West.

The Whitecaps turned things around in Texas.

Ryan Gauld and Yadaly Diaby led the Caps to a 2-1 comeback win over Austin FC, giving Vancouver some breathing room at the top of the West.

FT Thoughts:

-Not a perfect showing, but good enough to get the job done.
-Gauld and Diaby star in the comeback.
-White can't buy a goal.
-Some well earned rest, having opened up the lead in the West.
