Dentistry has seen the worst collapse in access in the NHS, and the weakest recovery.

A generation of failed contracts and savage cuts have taken their toll.

An uptick is welcome, but to restore care to millions we need real reform and sustainable underfunding.

We're delivering 2,500,000 more NHS dentist appointments - and the biggest sustained increase in dental school places since 2007, with a dental school in every region.

Lots done, lots more to do on NHS Dentistry - incl. reforming dental contract - but we're making progress.

Claims of ‘price gouging’ in private sector are a fiction dreamed up by the Chancellor, to try and show she on the side of patients while failing to support NHS provision.

The facts are that loss-making NHS work is fuelling the exodus from the service.

Choices made by successive govts to leave a failed contract unreformed, and to starve NHS dentistry of funding have failed millions in every corner of this country.

NHS Dentistry is failing us here in Torbay. Too many of you have told me how you struggle to get dentist appointments, and this is a sign of the broken NHS dental contract which fails to entice dentists to join the NHS.

I was shocked to hear from Health Minister Stephen Kinnock that when they came to power in 2024 the Government were met with a £392 million underspend in NHS dentistry, because dentists were not incentivised.
