A fantastic read from our very own Allison Riley has just been published in Education Today.
In the article, Allison explores how St Basil's Catholic Primary School has created a reading culture that supports every pupil to succeed, sharing practical insights into the systems, strategies and commitment that have helped achieve outstanding outcomes.
Congratulations, Allison, on a brilliant piece and a well-deserved feature. If you're passionate about literacy, it's well worth a read.

More isn't always better.
As teachers, it's easy to feel like a successful lesson is one where children produce pages of work. But often, it's the smaller amount of thoughtful, high-quality writing that leads to the biggest progress.

The learning is in the process, not just the finished result.
When children see ideas, sentences, and even letter forms being created in real time, they learn far more than if everything is already prepared.

What does Ofsted really mean by inclusion?
It's a word that appears throughout the inspection framework, but inclusion isn't a standalone initiative or a box to tick. It's reflected in the decisions schools make every day, from curriculum design and classroom practice to early intervention and support for pupils who need it most.
One of the key messages from Joanne Hewson, Director of Education at Omega Trust, is that effective inclusion starts long before a child falls behind. It begins with understanding pupils, identifying needs early, and removing barriers before they become obstacles to learning.
We've pulled together some of the key takeaways in this carousel, exploring what inclusion looks like in practice and what schools can do to strengthen it.

Sometimes the biggest barriers to learning aren't the children. They're the myths we've accepted for years.
In this clip from The Literacy Lounge, we unpack one common misconception about paragraph writing and why challenging outdated ideas can make a real difference in the classroom.

What does "Every Child Achieving and Thriving" actually look like in practice?
The government's new white paper places a strong emphasis on early intervention, high-quality teaching, literacy and supporting disadvantaged pupils. But turning policy into meaningful classroom practice is where the real challenge begins.
We've broken down some of the key themes in this carousel and discussed what they could mean for schools, teachers and pupils.
Take a look, share your thoughts, and let us know what stands out to you.

How can we help children understand migration and displacement in a compassionate, age appropriate way?
As the world faces ongoing conflict and change, it is more important than ever to bring empathy and awareness to our classrooms.
At The Literacy Company, we believe English lessons can be a powerful space for these conversations. Children are naturally curious and will have questions about what they see and hear in the news. By addressing these topics openly, we can help them build understanding around displacement and migration.

Kirsten and Jen recently visited KidsBank to deliver all the donated books collected from our local community. With this yearโs National Year of Reading theme, Go All In, it feels especially meaningful to help children who may not have easy access to books at home.
Putting inspiring stories into the hands of young readers matters. The National Literacy Trust reminds us why:
1 in 10 children still donโt have a book of their own at home.
Children with their own books are nearly four times more likely to enjoy reading.
Theyโre also four times more likely to read daily.
And far more likely to see themselves as good readers.
Book ownership changes reading habits and reading habits change futures. Weโre proud to play a small part in helping more children experience the joy of books.
