We welcome parts of the report on the competitiveness of 🇪🇺 banks, presented today by the EU Commission.
However, its conclusions regarding the consequences of supposedly excessive European regulations of the sector are misguided.

Electrification = strategic autonomy.
Congrats @Teresaribera & @DanJoergensen for the brave Electrification Action Plan.
Social leasing made real, less fossil fuel dependence, affordable prices. That's what should guide the EU.
Don't miss out on our upcoming mission to Washington DC for the 2026 Transatlantic Week.
And save the date - on 9 September we're gathering high level speakers for an in-depth discussion of the geopolitical changes taking place in the Middle East.

The Electrification Action Plan is a step towards delivering affordable energy, strengthening strategic autonomy, reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels and reinforcing competitiveness.

Attacks on fundamental rights, minorities, civil society space, media – Europe faces clear Rule of Law challenges.
As the Commission publishes its 2026 Rule of Law report, we call for a dedicated chapter on shrinking civil society space and stronger conditionality mechanisms.
In an increasingly unstable world, marked by geopolitical conflict, economic uncertainty, democratic backsliding and growing challenges to the rules-based international order, Europe must stand strong, united and true to its values.

Our demands are clear ahead of #SOTEU: no rollback of the Green Deal, no deals with the far right.
🇪🇺 Europe must deliver affordable housing, quality jobs, clean energy and uphold democracy and rule of law.
The 🇪🇺 Parliament and Council reached a provisional agreement to accelerate the development and deployment of cutting-edge defence technologies while placing EU SMEs and start-ups at the heart of defence innovation.

Siamo tutti antifascisti! At the doors of the European Parliament today, MEPs and activists gathered to stand against the far right.
We'll fight tooth and nail to defend a Europe of inclusivity and progress, with no return to our dark ethnonationalist past.
EU law is the bedrock of the rights, obligations and protections we enjoy as EU citizens.
We will never accept attacks on the primacy of EU law and the authority of @EUCourtPress. Alarming that @EPInstitutional is today considering a report with this objective.
International law and the ICC authority should be respected. The US should immediately stop implementing their plan aiming at pressuring individuals, states, and international organizations. Jurisdiction should be free from political influence, and retaliatory measures against other nations are simply unacceptable.
The Horizontal Anti-Discrimination Directive would help millions of Europeans who still face systemic discrimination based on age, disability, sexual orientation or religion. Our message for today’s @EP_Justice hearing: after being blocked in the Council since 2008, it’s time for progress!

The e-declaration confirmed at committee level: one single portal for companies posting workers across borders.
A prime example of simplification without deregulation.
Making it easier to ensure the rules are respected, while making it harder to exploit workers or circumvent the law.
Final stop: the plenary vote in October.

Coordinators of pro-EU groups in the 🇺Parliament Committee on Budgetary Control condemn attempts to downplay the serious misuse of EU taxpayer money by the Patriots for Europe Group.
Outrageous that this is happening with the support of the European People's Party (EPP) Group!
A shocking outcome from today's meeting of EU foreign ministers.
Despite overwhelming evidence that Israel is violating international law, there is still no final decision to suspend the EU–Israel Association Agreement or ban trade with illegal settlements.
EU support for Gaza's reconstruction must go hand in hand with accountability for Israel's actions.
@IratxeGarper@Yannis_Maniatis@kvanbrempt
Today, the European Commission, alongside many EU countries and international partners, pledged a $1 billion initiative for Gaza's early recovery. This is welcome news, but commitments must now translate into urgent reconstruction on the ground.
The devastating attacks by Israel's far-right government have left much of the Gaza Strip in ruins and displaced nearly its entire population of 2 million people, many of whom are now living in tents or damaged buildings.
Reconstruction is essential, but so is accountability. It is high time for the EU to sanction Israel for the actions that made this reconstruction necessary.

While Gaza lies in ruins and settler violence in the West Bank escalates, EU foreign ministers must stop looking away.
Business as usual is not an option. Israel must be held accountable.
The EU's own review found serious breaches of the human rights clause in the EU-Israel Association Agreement. Ministers must act accordingly:
Suspend the Agreement. Ban trade with illegal settlements. Now.
"We call on the Irish Presidency to place the social dimension at the heart of its agenda" @IratxeGarper
Next week:
Holding Israel to account for Gaza, supporting a simplification that helps workers and moving towards a cleaner energy system.

The humanitarian credibility of Europe will not be judged by its commitments, but by its results.
The time to act is now!
