@raghu_venugopal People see these unacceptable wait times for access to emergency care so they drive to rural communities. These small rural EDs don’t have the staff, space or resources to absorb the additional volume.

Premier Ford said in 2024 that he wants ER wait times to see a doctor down to 1 hour. To be fair, among all ER patients in Ontario the median wait in the past 12 months is 1.7-2.1 hours to see a doctor. But the variance below is unacceptable. @TheSGEM

@Avis_Favaro @TheSpec @HamHealthSci When jobs are cut in the healthcare system, patients often end up in the emergency department. The ED is the place in the system that cannot turn anyone away. We will see anyone, anytime, for anything. The solutions to ED crowding are outside the ED (upstream & downstream).
