I am very happy to report that our silly, spoof, spy comedy #HappyPatel is NOW STREAMING on @NetflixIndia It’s goes for silly, it’s got a lovely cast, many punches, some Khans, much dancing, and poison cutlets. Hope you’ll give us a watch, and let us make you laugh 🙏
I took myself out of the rat race at the top of this year. released seven things last year. Some worked. Some didn't. But it had been five years of non stop touring, marketing, releasing and flag planting. I gave myself 2026 to make stuff. To write, direct, and cook. And to push myself into the unfamiliar. Knowing full well I'd largely be low profile. No flag planting, no front facing, no announcements, minimal international travel, just creating. It's been the best decision I've ever made. I got to see my friends, create a space, have a routine, do life. It changed my material, changed how I see everything. I fell back in love with Mumbai. There is something to getting off the hampster wheel of exposure and trusting that the audience will be there when you're ready to come back bearing goods. Next year, l will come back with the most offerings you've ever seen me have. Those announcements will begin soon. Can't wait to show you everything 🤞🏽🧿
Am I the only one where every time you hear the Avengers theme music in a new trailer, you just let out a long sigh? And it’s not relief? I miss the Endgame days.
One wish for India in the next year. More state funds dedicated to quality animal shelters. More adoption and rescue drives. More sterilization drives. More vaccination drives. More of us rescuing indie dogs, the best decision you’ll ever make. 🇮🇳🙏
The first Independence Day in 10 years I have been home. Just wanted to say I hope you are safe, your family is healthy, all your dreams are within sight. I’m gonna actually watch two movies I’ve been meaning to watch for years Tamasha and Maqbool :-) Love, light, respect 🇮🇳❤️
If I could take the liberty of recommending a piece of comedy content for tomorrow. It’s this. Worked very very hard on it. It’s called Vir Das for India on Netflix. It’s a love letter to us ❤️
At about 4.30 this morning, covered in mud and slush, after 20 days of blood and dirt we had a window where we were waiting for daylight. No actors. Just the crew sitting around some tables. Fucking exhausted. We all kind of sat there in silence and smiled, and smoked, and joked while a few of the studio dogs wondered who these crazy people are and why they aren’t in bed. Then it dawns on you after years of being on sets as an actor. Filmmaking, is barely about acting. It’s about people covered in sweat, having declared a war on time, waiting for nature, clouds, rain, noise, machinery and kismet to cooperate (they never do) because for some reason they have been infected by a madness. Some sort of beautiful psychosis which is referred to as a unit. Mad people peddling the unreal. What a joy.
Acclaimed actor, comedian, and filmmaker #VirDas has official finished filming his second directorial venture, #BaaraNumber, a found-footage psychological thriller, which was announced last month.

Said to a friend yesterday. Maybe all adulting is...is thinking this: There's gonna be some sort of pain tomorrow. Physical, mental, emotional, logistical. I'm not gonna know which one till I feel it. So I'm not worrying about it. It's coming and I’ll deal with it then. But fuck it for now. Ima enjoy this sandwich."
