"Since US streamers entered Canada a decade ago, they have consistently raised their prices on Canadian subscribers, year after year. Make no mistake, this will continue regardless of any government action. The question we must ask is should US streamers, who’ve made tens of billions from Canadian audiences, also be required to invest in Canadians telling Canadian stories?"

The CMPA board and staff were on Parliament Hill this week, meeting with parliamentarians from all parties to champion Canada’s vibrant film and television production sector.
It was an incredible day of advocacy, ending with a reception celebrating the incredible producers and crews who make the magic happen. From carpenters and electricians to camera operators, hair and makeup artists and more, these are the people behind the 180,000+ jobs created in regions across the country.
A big thanks to 1Department for partnering with us to bring the reception to life, and to everyone who joined the event or met with us during the day. We’re proud to support an industry that works hard in every corner of the country.
