Didn’t realize 2021 would include us waiting for episodes of a Steve Martin-Martin Short-Selena Gomez mystery comedy to drop each week like the latest installment in the MCU, but here we are. Only Murders in the Building just keeps getting better. #onlymurders
I can’t even believe this #MastersoftheUniverse movie exists. There’s such humor, heart and sincerity that go beyond the property. That said, there’s still such love for the history of the cartoons & the toys. I had heard the hype, but it exceeded it for me. #MOTU
Finally saw #Obsession and was blown away by what they made on such a small budget. Great writing, directing, casting & acting. There was a real intensity that made it particularly fun to see with an audience
We had to skip over the 3 closest theaters to us to see #Backrooms in its 1st showing of the afternoon, because they were all packed. By the time our movie started, our theater was also mostly full. Lots of teens & they seemed just as into it as we were. Definitely delivered
Sad to see The Boys go, but enjoyed that ride. Such a rarity to see an adaptation outshine its source material, but that was exactly the case here for me.
Love being back in a theater to see a Star Wars movie. I definitely prefer a more sprawling story, but for those that don’t like media homework, this is very accessible, cute and still has some neat lore for those that are looking for it.
Enjoyed Is God Is. Incredibly talented cast and some great writing. The director really has a unique eye and I’m excited to see more from them in the future.
Crowd sourcing this one. If you know of a tattoo artist in the SoCal area that you’d suggest for a piece featuring comic style lettering & Kirby Krackle art, please let us know! Not exactly this, but a similar vibe ⬇️
Our theater has been packed & it’s so good to see. Even better than crowds for any one genre, the movies are filled with an eclectic mix that is giving people choices & they’re responding. The last couple months have felt like there’s a momentum that we’ve not seen in years here.
Love it. Even though I didn’t love the movie, I’m in love with movie theaters and I’m so happy they are off to a good start at the box office this year. In related news, I am typing this as I walk through a packed cinema parking lot this Sunday evening
Movie theaters are en vogue again — at least based on the blockbuster turnout for “The Devil Wears Prada 2.”
Disney’s star-studded sequel has defied box office expectations with $77 million domestically in its opening weekend. “Prada 2” racked up another $156.6 million at the international box office, bringing global ticket sales to $233.6 million for the weekend. https://t.co/vIPodVxeY8
Saw The Devil Wears Prada 2 & Hokum recently. Neither quite hit what I was hoping for, but they were fine (Devil) & pretty good (Hokum). Devil felt forced & Hokum was good, but didn’t live up to my self-inflicted hype (it was #5 on my anticipation list). Lots of fun Oddity nods
10 new releases in for 2026 so far:
1. Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die
2. They Will Kill You
3. Project Hail Mary
4. Hoppers
5. 28 Years Later: Bone Temple
6. Ready or Not 2
7. Scream 7
8. The Drama
9. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
10. Lee Cronin’s The Mummy
Lee Cronin's The Mummy is pretty gnarly, but it definitely could’ve used another revision and editing. The 3rd act kind of crumbled for us. Lots of potential, but just not quite there
I had such a good time with #TheyWillKillYou! I don’t understand why I’m not hearing more about it, but it was some of the most fun I’ve had at theater this year. If you’re going to see it, go in as blind as possible and I hope you enjoy the ride. It goes some places.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie didn’t quite land for me in the way the previous film did, but it’s still a fun enough time at the movies and I really appreciated how our theater went all out for it. Still excited for the next one, but not quite as much as I was prior to this one.
Enjoyed Project Hail Mary. I don’t feel as strongly about it as many do, but it was definitely a good time and looks very much like a film that people will remember for many years ahead.
