Halafu kuna mtu anasema nimuheshimu marehemu wewe unaweza kumheshimu mtu aliyeuwa familia yako..?
SADAKA YAKO NI MOJA SHARE TU BARUA HII KWA WAKENYA WANAJUA LA KUFANYA
To my Brothers and Sisters in Kenya,
I, Tundu Lissu, a lawyer and a steadfast advocate for the rule of law—who has long stood as a devoted friend to the Kenyan nation and a close ally to your icons of democracy—write to you from the depths of profound tribulation.
I recall with heavy heart the moments of national mourning you have endured for the pillars of African democracy, such as the late Mzee Raila Odinga (as a symbol of the struggle). Had I been a man of liberty, I would have stood in the frontline with you to honor the foundations of freedom they left behind. However, my current state is a physical shackle, though in spirit, we remain inseparable.
I write to you from within the cold confines of a heavy cell, a place where the light of justice has been deliberately extinguished. As you are well aware, our system here in Tanzania continues to grapple with severe systemic oppression—a framework where justice is not regarded as a fundamental human right, but as a fickle favor granted by those in power.
My heartfelt salutations go to the courageous Martha Karua, and all civil society leaders, the media fraternity, and every Kenyan who breathes the air of liberty. I humbly implore you: Do not despair for Tanzania. The oppression here is monumental, and the internal whispers of the persecuted are no longer enough to shatter these walls of tyranny.
I am now marking a full year in this "well of suffering." My life has become an endless cycle of anguish. My plea to you is not for mere sympathy, but for THE VINDICATION OF JUSTICE. I beseech you to lend me your voices; use your platforms, your airwaves, and your human rights organizations to cry out for a soul that yearns for nothing but the law.
I do not weep because I seek a release based on mercy; I weep so that the world may understand that the sanctity of the law is being desecrated. I demand my inherent rights as a human being and as a citizen who has sacrificed everything for the sake of dignity.
My Kenyan kin, remember that we are bound by blood and a shared destiny. Your unity and your collective declarations have the power to shake these foundations.
Do not cease to speak for me; do not cease to remind the Tanzanian administration of its legal and international obligations. Take up this mantle; see your brother, Tundu Lissu, languishing in the agony of injustice.
I pray that "this cup passes over me," and through these trials, may our strength be forged together. Today it is me, but the enemy of justice knows no borders and may strike at any door tomorrow. The virtue you stand for today on my behalf will be a shield and a legacy for future generations across East Africa.
I love you dearly, and I hold the unwavering
hope that you will fulfill this call with the same
fidelity and bravery that has defined your
history of struggle.
Yours in the Struggle for Law and Justice
