We lost a true icon today. #hulkhogan passed away at 71. What he did for wrestling can't be overstated, taking it from high school gyms and smoke filled VFW halls to where it is today. He is the Babe Ruth of wrestling. RIP #hulkster
Notice how winning the cup isn’t one of the reasons for joining the #isles
The perception of this organization has to move from the cul-de-sac crew to Stanley Cup contenders!
Interesting choices in roster building over the next few years.
Left handed D-men : Shaeffer, Pelech, Romanov, Aitcheson, George, Pulkkinen, Odelius.
How many is too many?
For those with memories longer than their noses, The Romanov (8 years !!!) signing feels a lot like the panic signing of Andrew Ladd after the #isles lost Okposo and Nielsen to free agency in 2016.
How long before we hear about the overpayment for DeAngelo.
Currently I couldn’t be happier with the off-season decisions made by the #isles
Lou fired
Draft Lottery won
Darche hired
New direction for the organization
Haven’t been this optimistic about the Islanders future since the back to back ECF runs!
Securing a 5 game regulation losing streak would be big for the #isles. Our placement before the draft lottery could realistically be anywhere from 7th to 13th.
At the time of this tweet we are currently 11th.
Lou Lamoriello didn’t choose to trade Brock Nelson. Nelson forced him to make the move by not agreeing to a contract extension. Lamoriello was absolutely going to do the wrong thing. Do NOT give him a free pass for making that trade when he had zero intention of doing so. #Isles
A reminder that Sorokin has played in 33 of the #isles last 38 games and he is having another amazing performance tonight.
He has played in more games than any other goalie for their team’s last 38 games.
The failure of a trade deadline for the #isles is not who was moved or wasn't, it's Ownership/Management having no organizational direction or vision that is inexcusable.
The original plan was to resign our UFA's and was only altered when Nelson wanted more then 3 years term.
Re-signing back 34 year old veteran winger on a 2 or a 3 year deal makes 0 sense for a team that is not a Stanley Cup Contender.
Teams are overpaying on everyone and our GM is deciding to sign back existing +30 year old veterans….
If Brock wanted to sign back with the #isles he would have never been traded.
Malkin and Ledecky purchased the #isles solely for a real estate development project. They don’t care about the long term sustainability of the franchise.
Leaving Lou in charge with 0 oversight and expectations doesn’t sound like owners who care about the on ice results.
I wonder if they run their real estate development ventures with the same laissez-faire mentality.
