@RichMillington @Nikki2987 @rosiesherry @valhalla_dev I don't see a problem with paying for keynotes straight up, and for requesting attendees pay in to a scholarship fund for burgeoning voices.
And event does not need to solely shoulder those costs in order to treat speakers well. Just add the optional fee and confirmation email.

The problem is that the burden of requesting payment is on the speaker to navigate from an expectation of zero, and voices feel disposable. The power balance is horribly off
