Apple Gives Some Customers a Free Upgrade to the New Mac mini

Apple is reportedly upgrading some customers who ordered a Mac mini M4 but are still waiting for their orders to ship. Instead of receiving their original model, affected customers will automatically receive the equivalent new-generation Mac mini with an M6 or M5 Pro chip, at no extra cost.

Apple is notifying customers by email that their orders have been upgraded because they had not yet shipped. The company says the upgrade will be provided free of charge, allowing eligible customers to receive the newly announced Mac mini without paying the price difference.

The M6 features a 12-core CPU/GPU, integrated Neural Accelerators and a dual 16-core Neural Engine, delivering up to 4× faster AI performance and 2× faster graphics.
