ASSASSINATION PLOT SUSPECTS ARRESTED:

Two suspects have been arrested in a multi-disciplinary operation following an investigation into an alleged assassination plot targeting a senior Department of Human Settlements official in Alberton.

The investigation began after the official reported in 2024 that she was being targeted after allegedly blocking corrupt activities.

She allegedly received death threats, suspected hitmen reportedly monitored her movements, and shots were fired at her home.

One suspect was arrested in Dundonald, Mpumalanga, where licensed firearms and ammunition were seized for forensic analysis.

A second suspect, an administrative clerk at the Department of Human Settlements in Alberton, was arrested at the department’s offices.

Investigators also seized firearms, ammunition, laptops and cellphones as part of the ongoing investigation.

A routine patrol by Vision Tactical members quickly turned into a pursuit after a suspicious vehicle was identified in Houghton JHB by partners.

The vehicle was tracked onto the freeway, where the suspect was successfully apprehended.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of multiple licence plates and a suspected military-grade signal jammer.

The suspect has been handed over to SAPS for further investigation.

JMPD officers acted swiftly on a complaint of extortion at a building on Mitchell Street in Hillbrow, where a suspect allegedly demanded money from a caretaker and threatened to cut off the water supply if payment was not made.

The suspect was arrested on arrival and detained at Hillbrow SAPS on a charge of extortion. During the arrest, officers recovered appointment cards linked to Johannesburg Water and City Power, which were booked in as evidence.

Centurion Muggings Update:

Security patrols have been intensified at known mugging hotspots in Centurion following recent incidents in the area. Runners have been targeted.

Today, security guards spotted four suspicious men hiding in bushes near one of the hotspots in Raslouw before the suspects fled as backup arrived.

“Appreciation has been conveyed to the security teams for their vigilance and rapid response,” said a runner who was robbed recently.

Affected hotspots include:

BREAKING: A child has reportedly been kidnapped during an attack outside a school in Southdale, Johannesburg, this morning.

The incident happened at about 07:40 in Alamein Road. Initial information suggests the suspects followed the victim to the school before attacking him and kidnapping one of the children.

The suspects are believed to be four armed men driving a white Toyota Corolla.

A police officer was captured on camera allegedly collecting money from foreign nationals.

BREAKING: The SAPS has confirmed that Health Minister, Aaron Motsoaledi’s official vehicle was involved in an accident in which two pedestrians - a mother & her baby were killed.

It’s understood the woman & her two children were trying to cross the N1 near Bela Bela on Saturday when the accident happened. They were trying to get to the scene of a separate accident in which the woman’s husband was also killed.

The Minister was in the car at the time of the accident.
