Borders, migration and the stories behind them, from the US, UK and Europe. Fast, plain, no spin. If you're tired of hearing it last and spun, follow along.
@EricLDaugh Citizenship is the biggest thing a country can give someone, so careful vetting of every applicant is exactly what voters asked for. Slower approvals are a fair trade if every file actually gets checked properly.
@RadioGenoa Fireworks fired at officers in Lille this early in the day points to a rough afternoon ahead. Anyone throwing them should face arrest and charges, and the officers holding that line deserve their government's full backing.
@visegrad24 Paris shop owners nailing plywood over their windows at 3am tells you how little faith they have that the streets will stay safe. Small businesses deserve policing that is planned ahead, before the boards ever go up.
France is putting 70,000 officers on the streets just to get through one Saturday of protests, and the Louvre is shut as a precaution. Paris clearly knows how bad this could get.
France are set to deploy 70,000 law enforcement officers ahead of planned protests across France today. Paris museums, including the Louvre, have been closed as a precaution.

@Telegraph Refilling almost half those prison places within ten days shows early release only delays the problem. Britain needs more prison capacity so offenders serve their full sentences.
@GBNEWS@anthonyjrubin If Anthony can walk onto that beach and see zero officers, the smugglers clearly aren't worried about getting caught. Somebody in the Home Office should be asking Paris what the money's buying.
@FoxNews@AsraNomani Nearly 650 planned protest actions is a lot for French police to cover in one weekend. Hope the shop owners and families caught in the middle get through it safe.
Huge decision from the 5th Circuit. Illegal aliens arrested by ICE can, in fact, be detained without bond, even if they’ve lived in the U.S. for decades, overturning three lower Fed judges.
From concurrence:
“A nation ceases to be a nation if it can't protect its borders."
This was an 11-6 ruling with the entirely of the 5th Circuit (en banc).
@DHSgov@ERONewYork Every release New York refuses to coordinate on means more officers in neighborhoods and more risk for everyone. It's a choice the city keeps making, and residents are the ones paying for it.
@DailyMail Nobody should have to sit up all night guarding the shop they spent years building. Arrest the looters on the spot and let these people get back to work.
@TheBritishIntel Good. Stopping the boats and engines before they ever reach the French beaches is how you actually hurt these gangs. More of this, all along the route.
@RadioGenoa Good. After the week Paris has had, people just want to get to work tomorrow without stepping over broken glass. Hope they're actually allowed to do the job.
