Our series creator, @AdenAbebe talking with @TheCancelled about East African culture in Toronto and why this series isn't out of left-field. #livecancellations https://t.co/f0tb1zB9sL
"Art is the best to have a conversation about things we don't know how to have a conversation about. I want to see our community heal and I think art and media can do that."@AdenAbebe#livecancellations#virginstheseries
For us, it's about combatting tropes on virginity: "you're either pathetic and undesirable or religiously repressed." #livecancellations#virginstheseries
@AdenAbebe@TheCancelled@hausofriya@kxng_lu "One thing that I haven't seen in other series is virginity, sexuality and how it connects with culture. Other than @JaneWriters , I dont know of another show that tackles these topics in the way we do." We😍 Jane the Virgin.
@AdenAbebe@TheCancelled@hausofriya@kxng_lu For so long non black people have profitted off of our cultural products and heritage and I was tired of being tired. We have a show that not only tells our stories, showcases our culture but also highlights what folks don't know about us, which is our particular brand of humour.
Catch me talking on @TheCancelled about all things @VirginsSeries. How it got started, why it's needed and accepting thanks in advance for blessing your screens with the beautiful faces that give life to our characters. #livecancellations with @hausofriya and @kxng_lu. https://t.co/F2uh8x088M
