I’m trying to use this account more so I should probably reintroduce myself:
Hi, i'm the Shockman, a longtime internet user who only recently decided to be more active on social media.
On here, I'll mainly be posting about Thomas and Friends, Transformers and Politics- (1/3)
Above all else it was already clear but it’s even more clear than before that something this unprecedented wouldn’t be happening if the situation wasn’t serious, I hope Reeves and his family are doing okay
Curious George one of the best kids shows to ever do it, teaches actual logic and day to day lessons and since it’s narrated with awareness of George’s perspective it does it with dry humor that doesn’t talk down to the kids even if the characters themselves talk down to George
In section 106 tonight, a 45-minute drive from home, was a man wearing his lucky Jake Bauers shirt. Stu Bauers has worn his son’s t-shirt the last four Brewers games. They are 4-0. It hasn’t been washed yet and at this rate it may never be.
people are calling the kelly clarkson/art of play thing petty or low stakes but I actually think it is very deep when a celebrity isn't willing to use their platform to speak on actual atrocities, but they're willing to double down on putting a random tiny store on blast
Saying playing in Tampa is basically a home game for you, then losing both of those games, then coming back to your actual home field and getting swept out of the postseason in front of your other home fans
Governor Beshear. First time long time.
I say this with love & respect.
But if you don’t completely — and I mean completely — empty the DGA’s bank account for Gina Hinojosa & Keisha Lance Bottoms, The Ghost of Midterms Past will come back to haunt you for the rest of your days.
Fine with protesting Zohran and always holding our elected officials accountable but if you’re accusing him of being complicit in genocide I’m really gonna need you to get a grip
Digger is not about how films don’t change anything or satire is pointless.
It makes a point for art is a unifying element in society. It bridges time and brings people together in the present.
Will art stop powerful people from abusing their power? No. But that doesn’t mean it’s without function.
I see a lot of the “pointlessness of art” takes. But that’s not all the film says and it’s certainly not what Iñárritu has described in interviews.
Digger isn’t about how film is a tired artform. It isn’t about how all cinephiles are wrong or how everything is hopeless; Alejandro has said as much. By tailoring it to your worldview and using it to attack anyone who doesn’t agree with you, you’re effectively bastardizing it.
I don’t have anything to add to the discussion of Digger’s quality- I haven’t seen it yet- but it feels like some people are using it to justify their own rampant cynicism and borderline nihilism, in a way that I doubt the original creators ever intended.
