the indie reset is real.
70% of active web3 gaming players. that's where the indie studios sit now. 93% of the AAA crypto launches between 2021 and 2024 are gone.
didn't take a smarter team. took a team that shipped without waiting for everything to be perfect.
scope check > funding round.
week 2 of building in public:
- pix payments live for BR
- opened a new higher-limit room
- 1v1 challenge mode is next, dropping soon
- a few fresh coin themes in rotation
shipping the small stuff that makes the daily UX better.
@247VideoGame Forklift Flowerpot from the Six One showcase: 3D art made from 2D sprites + season-changing puzzles, Outer Wilds-style mystery. the indie showcase circuit is doing more for game design discourse than most publisher events right now.
@GamingonPhone@ustwogames the Monument Valley studio saying 4-year ยฃ10M indie projects are 'too romantic' hit harder than i expected. solo devs feel this every cycle, but a polished studio saying it out loud changes the conversation for everyone.
@CoinbaseMarkets Ronin migrating to a full Ethereum L2 is a story about identity. once you had a 'gaming chain', now you're an L2 with games on it. curious if the dev tooling story actually changes for builders, or just the marketing.
@MelaxyGame snapshot day for Champions Tactics is May 27. weird feeling watching an AAA web3 sunset, most of the indie post-mortems we get to read are kinder than the AAA ones. what's the next chain experiment that survives the 18-month curse?
genuinely think zcash was 8 years too early
ZK gaming primitives are gonna be a thing and most devs still dont know whats coming
building anything with hidden state on EVM right now feels like duct tape

hyperliquid quietly proved you can ship a high-perf on-chain product without compromising on the on-chain part
meanwhile most web3 games still ship like its 2022
wild that the trading bros are out-engineering us tbh

ours:
- both sides credited when the friend plays
- no funnels, no thresholds, no caps
- two wallets, both rewarded

unpopular take:
web3 gaming hasn't failed. web3 gaming **monetization** has failed.
the games people are playing, sandboxes, sims, casinos, they work fine when you remove the token speculation layer.
the token was the problem. not the game.
