A hospital in east China has used reprogrammed stem cells to treat severe heart failure, with 90% of patients showing significant recovery in heart function after the novel therapy.

The trial was small (20 patients, half in the control group), and the control group had a 60% recovery after surgery. One patient in the control group died.

A larger study is currently underway. Reprogramming stem cells is top science and China is leading the way.
