Exceptionally heavy El Niño rains have triggered millions of dormant seeds beneath the soil, transforming vast stretches of one of the world’s driest regions into a spectacular carpet of flowers. 🌸🌸🌸
The Atacama Desert, one of the driest places on Earth, has been dramatically transformed following heavy rainfall in northern Chile. Areas that are typically barren and parched are now covered in vibrant violet and white blossoms, a rare natural phenomenon known as the “flowering desert.”🏵️🏵️🏵️

The 24th edition took place from 13–16 August 2026 at the Grand-Place in Brussels, Belgium, featuring a spectacular design inspired by Hokusai’s The Great Wave off Kanagawa, celebrating 160 years of Belgium–Japan relations. 🇧🇪🇯🇵

Most of the work is carried out by the amazing @bloemencorsoLoenhout volunteers, who also organise Belgium’s biggest flower parade on 13 September. 🌺

The rainfall has penetrated deeper into the sandy soil than usual, creating favorable conditions for vegetation to emerge in the nature reserve, located around 800 kilometers north of Santiago. According to forecasts from Conaf, the floral display is expected to reach its peak in October, with the agency estimating that approximately 15,000 hectares could be covered in blooming flowers.

Did you know that in Polynesia, gardenias can carry a little message? 🤍

Traditionally, wearing a gardenia behind your left ear can mean you’re in a relationship, while wearing it behind your right ear can mean you’re open to love.
