@SlyFlourish I think a patient DM works better than any of the written material for new players that are learning. Throw them into the game and teach them how to play before you give them a textbook (the books are great, but they can be overwhelming for newbies).

I would go noobs, I love seeing what people that have no preconceived notion of “how the game works” come up with. In my experience, they don’t know what they can’t do yet so they try everything and get really creative.
