1/2 @TalkingPicsTV @MikeReadUK the plastic strips (that were plaited together) Noel Cronin mentioned in this week’s Footage Detectives are called Scoubidou. Named after the 1958 Sacha Distel song, they originated in France. The craze made a comeback in the late 90s/early 2000s.

2/2 @TalkingPicsTV @MikeReadUK I remember the children in my class in the 90s using a tubular pvc thread version rather than the flat ones used in the 50s. Key chains, friendship bands were the most commonly woven items. We love the channel and the show. Keep up the great work.

@TalkingPicsTV @MikeReadUK Magical Mystery Tour was filmed at RAF West Malling, a decommissioned military airfield in Kent. Many of the interior scenes, such as the ballroom sequence for "Your Mother Should Know", were filmed in the disused aircraft hangars.
