It looked okay, but it wasn’t giving the message I wanted.
So I scrapped it, tried another approach, and this is what I finally came up with.

Sometimes you just have to keep trying until it feels right.

Earlier today, I was working on this scene and I had to do it over and over again.

At first, I thought the animation was fine, but after looking at it again, I started asking myself, “Why am I using this kind of animation for this scene?”

And that’s when I realized something.

When you’re working on an explainer video, every scene has a purpose. The motion is not just there to make the video look nice. It has to help communicate what that particular scene is saying.

For this scene, the motion I initially used wasn’t really working.

One thing I’ve started paying more attention to while working on explainer videos is the video board.

Before jumping into After Effects and starting the animation, I need to know what each scene is actually trying to communicate.

That’s where the video board comes in.
