Gambling Reform & Society Perception. Raising awareness of problem gambling & reform the industry. GRASP is not anti gambling but is anti problem gambling.
@gamvisory @bacta @GRHAPPG @NHS_NGS@bactauk I don't know if there's still a connection but there certainly was. It seems nonsense to have such high profile discussion around machine gambling and not speak about CatD as part of that.
I wonder if the 15 year olds who were hurriedly inserting ยฃ1 coins into CatD games this week started on these! Let's not let height/age impede the start of a gambling addiction' eh. @bacta @GRHAPPG @NHS_NGS@TheGraspGroup @gamvisory @bactauk
@Donnakinsella6 Wonderful to read this thread!!! I'd love the opportunity to read this. I'm really interested in the impacts of Gambling addition upon women. I'm doing a masters in Humanistic Counselling. Wonderful to see others on this journey, absolutely brilliant.
Speaking with 15 year old machine players this week, in Scarborough arcades. "It's the adrenaline mate". So @bactauk the voluntary code is clearly failing. Time for a statutory ban on U18s accessing gambling machines.
Inducements and incentives to gamble don't consist solely of free bets from the big firms. Lots of harm continues to be done on a 'micro' level. Harm that has a big impact upon young people. Conversations with young machine players this week, show that the problem remains!
@nicknongambler @andrewjonrhodes Natasha Schull's book, a weighty read mind, pretty much sets out the predatory template for electronic gambling offerings, and predatory it has been proven to be.
@gerogeTG @mgaskell12 We had this levelled at us many times years ago. Most of us would like to see exploitative practices wiped out. But c'mon, we operate within our area of expertise at any given time. Who can be expected to fight every bloody battle?
