Tiny list of white rappers who aren’t on that ‘’i hate mumble rap wave’’ or aren’t bad rappers but take from black people and repackage it and are widely praised for it
i think the reason alot of the white rappers in the mainstream come and go in this era is because none of them are prepared to examine their whiteness or truly embrace their roots like early eminem or asher roth did. instead, they just come across as someone putting on a costume
it’s what makes hip hop great and annoying at the same time. this genre wouldn’t be so progressive if the younger generation were in reverence to the past but also, what do we have if we don’t respect the history to some extent?
they be remembering 4:44 for black capitalist bars whole time that nigga said “let go your ego over your right shoulder, your left is saying finish your breakfast”
I feel like hip-hop/rap is the only genre where we dismiss our legends calling them “washed up”. You’ll never see someone call Roger Waters who still preforming Pink Floyd hits washed. Or someone like Bruce Springsteen. It’s honestly sad.

Madness Brackets
AoTY (this year and maybe a comparison to your past AoTYs for funsies)
Most importantly: we need Groovy takes on drama like when Big Sean and Jhene Aiko broke up
You can appreciate things that came before you without taken away from other generations etc
Have no idea what peoples issue is when it comes to appreciating things that came before or after them
24 year old says Rakim isn't a Top 10 rapper anymore and the older generation refuses to let go of everyone they loved growing up.
Do you agree with him or is this take disrespectful to hip hop?
