Aim for at least 50% of Nigeria’s 30,000 primary healthcare centres to be fully operational by the end of a first term (noting that only 10–20% currently function effectively). This decentralised approach is meant to bring care closer to communities, ease pressure on secondary/tertiary hospitals, and lower maternal/child mortality.

Expand health insurance coverage: More than double coverage from around 10% (or lower in some statements) to over 20% within four years, drawing lessons from successful systems (e.g., discussions with US experts on primary and emergency care models). Goal: make quality care accessible and affordable for more Nigerians and reduce catastrophic out-of-pocket spending.

Raise healthcare funding: Increase the healthcare budget to a minimum of 10% of GDP (from current levels below 5%). He criticises low capital releases (e.g., citing cases where only a tiny fraction of appropriated funds reach primary care) and contrasts this with higher spending on items like election-related costs, calling for reordering priorities so health is treated as a national security and development issue.

Train, equip, and retain healthcare workers: Massively expand training of nurses and other professionals; adequately staff facilities; supply equipment and essential medicines; and create conditions so doctors and nurses want to stay in Nigeria rather than emigrate. Improve maternal and child healthcare and focus on prevention, immunisation, and management of common diseases at community level.

Overall mindset: Treat healthcare (with education) as the twin pillars of human capital. Redirect savings from reduced waste, governance costs, or subsidy reforms toward these sectors. Emphasise consistency across administrations, local drug manufacturing where feasible, and viewing a “sick nation” as unable to compete or defend itself.

We have received with great sadness reports that the Chairman of Kuje Area Council, FCT, Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo, has threatened those who will not vote for or support the APC in the area to immediately leave.

This is a direct threat to democracy. We firmly reject such statements.
Nigerians have the fundamental right to freely choose whom to support.

Threatening citizens for refusing to back a party that has brought nothing but shame, hardship, and disgrace to the nation is not only an attack on democracy but a gross assault on human decency and the Constitution.

No public official has the authority to dictate political choices or drive people out of their homes for exercising their democratic rights.

People were stuck in traffic for over 72 hrs while traveling state to state. People got information about it and decided to borrow money from friends and family to fly. Others were afraid of being kidnapped if they use the road. Flights is cheaper than ransom money.

The airports got full.

Another person said it’s because Tinubu is doing so well that’s why airport is full because people now have more money to spend on flight. (Higher purchasing power)
