I was told by a world class drummer that if your practicing and it sounds good...your just playing...NOT improving!

I believe it’s the solo nature or DJing that makes it so subjective in the eyes of fellow DJs...with no set standards and always performing alone...in your own bubble...it makes it tough for people to be both honest with themselves and remain objective.
