Nope. Just sold ours. Settlement tomorrow. Stocks and Bitcoin will never call or email me, will never send me countless maintenance bills and associated rates and taxes. I’ve been a landlord on and off for 25 years. I’m after simplicity now. You can make up for lost money, but you can never make up for lost time.
@evolvee33 Life is meant to be fun. Do it YOUR way. I quite like the voice note post. I could read it fast, understand it and i was able to understand how you feel about something. Very engaging.
@StevenBartlett Your podcast is the first thing I check BEFORE considering streaming services. Give me uplifting real stories about extraordinary humans before drama and noise any day of the week.
As much as I LOVE a spreadsheet, I’ve found the most hands off/ easy way to organise a budget is to have different accounts for everything that gets credited on payday. Ie bills account (most are direct debit ants that don’t change), groceries and petrol account, personal expenses account, investment account etc. I figure out what all my expenses are in terms of the portion of our fortnightly salaries and transfer that amount each pay cycle. It’s the same every pay cycle, so no constant admin to do. If an account runs low ie is under $300, I can quickly identify the overspend depending on which account it is.

That’s what Aussie marathon legend, Robert de Castella, said he kept telling himself, when asked how he kept going.

If it’s too big, we feel overwhelmed and quit.
If it’s too small, we get bored… and quit.
@RoaringHammy IKEA merges two of my favourite passions…. Home organization and eating. It’s a guilty pleasure of mine. I love the Swedish meatballs and ALL of the Swedish desserts.
Never underestimate the power of wellbeing with wealth. It’s such a personal thing. I’ve done many things that don’t make sense to others and have had tremendous results. I’ve also followed the crowd and lost a lot of money. At the end of the day, it’s you who lives with the decisions.
Your calendar is the blueprint for your life.
If you’re not healthy or wealthy, check your schedule.
WELLthy people block time for what builds both… small, consistent actions.
Plan ahead. You’re in control.
Echo chambers are dangerous.
Practicing critical thinking is key.
I make sure that I take the time to read and understand the opposing point of view to my own, regularly.
This new world we are evolving in to has no room for naivety.

Great conversation! I have found that by reducing the live-work-play triangle saves time as well as money - especially with transport, fuel, tolls, parking costs. Walking / cycling to work will save you a fortune AND you won’t need to carve more time and money for fitness as you’re already doing it on your daily commute! 😀
