@Dreamchasr24sev @gunsnrosesgirl3 Letting go of what other people think and living according to your own values is the way. Whether those people are human or some kind of creature deep in the universe.
@CharterVanilla@FromPhDtoLife I'd say shell out for a sous vide stick, too.
I use my Instant Pot for beans and stews, then freeze single portions in freezer bags & reheat from frozen to the perfect temp with the sous vide. I know some people might not be fans, but it it so much easier to eat well.
@FromPhDtoLife Most hotels will tell you they don't have a bottle fill station, but most DO have a water station in the gym. Check there first before spending $12 on a bottle of water - especially if you have per diem spending limits.
@DrAprylA I assume this is a writing course, since the instructions specify that the language can "diminish your capability to become a successful writer" rather than mathematician, scientist, theorist, etc.
@DrAprylA In case you have to write an essay...
These arbitrary rules create a false dichotomy between student's personal and scholarly identities, restrict emotional expression and participation in culture. This is especially problematic in a writing course.

@sciliz@jacasiegel I could contribute over the summer when I was not enrolled. I tried to put part of my GA stipend into the retirement account going into the school year and payroll withdrew it and paid it back to me. Also, NV state employees opted out of social security so I lost that, too.
I'm very choosy with what I share here. But I've known Aaron for >20 years. He was hit by an avalanche and is looking to get back on his feet. He is resilient & brings joy to those lucky to know him. Please consider donating or sharing.

@colleenawilson I had a roommate who was sent to a psychologist and a nutritionist - her primary complaint was that her belly felt larger and firmer and had some pain, but she was thin so they thought it was dysmorphia. Over a year before she got a dx of uterine fibroids.
@rainnwilson I thoroughly enjoyed this (audio) book. While there was a lot to take from it, I have integrated the concept of learning virtues into my daily journaling and therapeutic practice (using a Bahaโi website with some great videos and discussion) and it has been amazing.
@jacasiegel I defended 1 week ago. I was so stressed about it. I appreciate you posting this, and I appreciate all of the people who acknowledged my anxiety as valid, even as they maintained confidence in me, and didn't dismiss my feelings.
@varsha_venkat_ I liked the way he handled the hard stuff - and the way he listened to my input. We had similar future goals with plenty of room to figure it out together.
@DrPeterLovatt@Qualtrics Yesterday I completed a survey about day 1, and said โmore movement in the keynote-so painful to sit that longโ
And there you were! What a welcome presentation!! You were awesome!
@jacasiegel If you haven't yet, you should check out this blog. (I have zero affiliation, I learned about this company from a listserv, and the blog is awesome).

@happier_version Make time for your traditions, whatever they are. I almost didn't get a Christmas tree my first year because I was going home anyway, and I didn't have a ton of money for it. Decorating that tree and working next to it at the end of semester helped me so much.
@GDepow @happier_version "Organize files in a way that will scale." Advice I WISH I had started out with. I also recommend naming downloaded articles/books in a way that tells you who wrote it and why you read it.
@happier_version Get sleep. I spent the first few years pulling all-nighters way too often. It's not only bad for your health, but bad for your learning too. https://t.co/TneMp8LeOG
