There was this lady who used to come to me for help (very repeatedly) and she was beginning to become a burden to me. Anytime she texted, it was a need or something. She’d call me even in the middle of the night and text repeatedly.
This got me thinking. Some people don’t actually care about you, they’re just needy.
She wouldn’t even remember me if she didn’t see my status. Whether I exist or not, it’s not her business. Seeing my status is the only thing that makes her remember me and come to prey on me.
What surprised me tonight is—it’s been about 4 months since I did that and I haven’t heard from her since then. Not a single message from her or anything. I didn’t even remember her until I was going through peoples’ statuses.
She’d use different patterns of emotional blackmail to get me do what she wanted.
At some point, I got fed up and decided to block her from viewing my whatsapp status ‘cause I really wanted to avoid her.
I’ve been in a few parasitic friendships and I can tell that it all ends when the benefits stop.
It’s better to limit contact, lose some unnecessary ones and set boundaries than to fall victim of these “friends”.
Fun fact is—they never do any wrong, they’re always the victim.
In a world we live where love is only demonstrated with “Happy Birthday” and “RIP”, make sure you love yourself genuinely and live your life well enough.
