Exposing the fake competitions, rampant plagiarism, bad spelling, sinister sockpuppeting, negative racial stereotyping, and bare-faced lies of TheLiberal․ie.
Long thread attempts to pull together all the work done tracking down and exposing Leo Sherlock's numerous fake @facebook accounts.
Enjoy! 🙂 https://t.co/PYL1NRuQzL
These are just some of the vile, abusive comments posted by Leo Sherlock - owner of TheLiberal․ie - using the same fake @facebook accounts he created to pose as "prize-winners" in phoney competitions.
TheLiberal is currently using its platform to influence #Aras18 elections.
Dedicated to all those at @thejournal_ie who've recently unfollowed our account, for whatever reason.

Hi @adoaco, thanks for following.
As The Journal's CEO, do you have any insights into why your Fact Check team don't flag this false content on Facebook?
Especially in those cases where FactCheck themselves have already debunked the specific claims?
Facebook have put in place measures to combat the spread of misinformation on the platform and will ban repeat offenders.
However, their sole fact checking partners here in Ireland, @thejournal_ie/@TJ_FactCheck, are simply not flagging false content.
Here are just some examples
Right. I have some GOOD NEWS! That legal case that Arron Banks is bringing against me? The one described as a "chilling" threat to journalism by press freedom organisations? He's dropped TWO of the cases against me. Hallebloodylujah. 🎉🎉🎉
Wonder if AIQ will be distributing videos of people being dismembered, bleeding to death in a ditch and being burned alive to intimidate the Irish electorate - just like they did in Nigeria? 🤔
Ask @thejournal_ie why they aren't flagging false content on Facebook. They're paid to do it, and are FB's ONLY fact-checking partner in Ireland.
Pls share the thread below.
If you're a reporter, why not investigate @thejournal_ie's relationship with @Facebook? What's going on?

AIQ were "working closely with Cambridge Analytica to distribute violent, divisive Islamophobic material that should be nowhere near an election campaign."
Whatever works, eh Gript?

It's strange that TheLiberal's owner hasn't removed these already to avoid a ban. There are dozens more examples which disappeared immediately after we tweeted about them.
If you're on Facebook, we strongly recommend reporting every single one of these ASAP.

9/ The Swedish teachers involved in this incident now use it to teach children how fake news spreads online.
Ireland are exporting fake news. @thejournal_ie are in a unique position to do something about it, but don't seem one bit interested. https://t.co/J4KmhhcePB
When a car mirror lightly brushed against two students in Sweden, TheLiberal reported a "car ploughed into a group of 100 children and their teachers" and "the car smashed into them".
Can you fact check, @TJ_FactCheck?

8/ These are the kinds of ridiculous claims regularly inserted into TheLiberal's articles to further a far right agenda.
The page has 530K followers, with engagement rates currently well over twice that of @thejournal_ie (via Facebook Insights).

In this post, TheLiberal makes the wild claim that "in 2016 migrants were responsible for 93% of sex attacks" in Finland, linking to a police report (in Finnish) that says no such thing.
Please report as False News:
