Librarian and co-lead on Library Partnership Rating. Interests: Improving equity in scholarly publishing. Mitigating SARS-CoV-2. Becoming a better human.
The Library Partnership Rating Rubric is now available! Robin and I announced the beta version of the LP Rubric in @commonplace_kfg today.

Sure is telling to see scientists up in arms about a few week delay in grant reviews but utterly silent about the cancelling of the diversity initiatives they’ve been trumpeting for a decade.
After 3 long, hard years of tireless work, our cross-campus, multi-discilinary academic team reaching our goal: State of CT support to scale up CR Boxes for every classroom in Connecticut! 💪🌬️💫💫
This passion project started from the point of care at @uconnhealth 🏥where I have been treating people living with MS since 2017 as a neuro-immunology nurse practitioner. 👩⚕️
When the 🦠 pandemic struck, my immunosuppressed patients were vulnerable - majority females with families and many educators that work in our CT Schools. 👩🏫👦🧒 [https://t.co/u1dVpgMRoV]
I looked at the mitigation efforts in these hubs of our communities and saw a gap - no air purifiers in schools, while @JohnsHopkinsSPH and @HarvardChanSPH recommended this intervention.[https://t.co/LX9zc5G02u]
@j_g_allen Coming full circle. 119 years ago—in 1905—Massachusetts already had a 30 cfm/person ventilation mandate for schoolhouses:
"the apparatus will supply at least thirty cubic feet of air per minute for each scholar accommodated in the rooms"

BIG NEWS. California Department of Public Health adopted 30 cfm/p as the ventilation target for classrooms, citing our Lancet report 🙌

Thread on 30 cfm/p here (with a cool update...)👇

My new article Empirical Disability Legal Studies is now published in the Annual Review of Law & Social Science (@AnnualReviews). It explores work looking at disability law critically via a disability studies lens and through the use of empirical tools https://t.co/lDEUSvWKN1 1/3

Possible legislation to improve Indoor Air Quality in the US: great news!
Especially that it is bipartisan, so that it has a chance to pass.
But just the fact that it has been introduced is great news. Even a few months ago people were discussing this as nearly impossible
Today, I introduced the bipartisan Indoor Air Quality & Healthy Schools Act that would implement needed, science-based measures to protect the public from poor indoor air quality.
Thankful to @RepBrianFitz for partnering in this effort. Read more below:

@US_FDA Given data showing Novavax is superior to the mRNA platform for both longevity (see thread quoted below please) & reactogenicity (less side effects), why hasn’t the FDA moved to issue a Novavax EUA for kids < 12 years old?
Children are not faring well from serial SARS2 exposure.
"Administrators and leaders of earlier eras, unlike our own, were too deeply committed to education, discussion, and open debate — even when they disagreed with students’ beliefs, tactics, and proposals — to quickly call police to campus to arrest student demonstrators."
The risk of #H5N1 to the general public is currently low.
But, what road signs will indicate that risk to humans increases? @cmyeaton + team just published a beautiful risk assessment report.
We are currently between scenario 2 and 3 (really 2+ because of the cats).
You may well have the unusual situation of the Columbia student radio station being eligible for a Pulitzer Prize, administered by Columbia University, for the station’s coverage of how Columbia called the cops on Columbia students. (They’re doing an extraordinary job).
Possible evidence of human to human transmission of Avian Flu H5N1
Transmission to doctors?

16 fans + 5 filters = nearly silent and huge flow of clean air. Add framing on top to reduce noise, isolate fans, and increase available room space by attaching calendars, a white board, etc. Raise with legs to recover floor storage space.
