In Gaelic football, Just because there is a defender trying to cover back does not mean the chance is no longer classed as a goal scoring opportunity. The attacker has to be given the benefit of the doubt.
@Mulliganj@officialgaa You are getting mixed up with soccer. In soccer, the rule states the referee must take account of the location of other defenders when determining if a foul has led to the denial of a goal scoring opportunity. There is no such qualification in Gaelic football rules. 1/2
@John1986ire Using that logic, maybe the Irish flag should be beside Ryan Moore π. His stable is based in Ireland and he rides more in Ireland than England.
@helynsar Godolphins pacemaker Give The Slip (well named) famously did this (came off the rail to let Fantastic Light thru on his inner and forced Gallileo out wide) for in the Irish Champion Stakes. All English (and Irish) racing fans lauded the move at the time. Whats different here?
@kevinblake2011@EireSportsViews Am I imagining this or not Kevin, but has there been Royal Ascots before where earlier in the week the Stands side was the place to be on the straight track but the far side came to the fore in the final two days even though the ground was Gd to Firm all week? I think there has.
@batcountry1980 Good read & havent seen. As regards the finale, it seems to have the open endness of "The answer is Blowin' in the Wind".
It asks what would YOU do if Aliens contacted us - and Spielberg knows the sequel (ie. the answer) is currently playing out differently in each viewers mind

@RCFarquhar Did Godolphins pacemaker Give The Slip not do the exact same as Puerto Rico did here in the Irish Champion Stakes for Fantastic Light? Purposely came off the rail on the home bend to allow FL up his inside. Everyone raved about those tactics at the time. Whats different here?
@davidjohnsonTF Godolphins pacemaker Give the Slip did the same for Fantastic Light in the Irish Champion (drifted off the rail & let FL up his inner on the home bend) & all English racing fans called it tactical genius. Irish racing fans agreed with them. Put the shoe on the other foot tho'..
@davidjohnsonTF Having being beaten in the Derby on your record doesn't always downgrade a stallions potential. See Dubawi and Cracksman as two of many examples.
