This week in the #EPlenary:
🔵Two motions of censure against the @EU_Commission, tabled by extremists, which will be largely rejected at the vote on Thursday. They are an empty exercise meant to destabilise the #EU, block key programmes & weaken #transatlantic relations.
🔵 I continue my work on the future #EUBudget & meeting key stakeholders. We need a budget that is inclusive, transparent and European.

This is not a Netflix series – it’s happening right now in the Republic of #Moldova. 🇲🇩
#Russia is pouring hundreds of millions of euros into influencing the elections next Sunday: funding networks via crypto and Russian banks to bribe voters, spreading propaganda and disinformation with AI tools, and even planning riots to destabilize the country if pro-European forces win.
Moldova’s democracy and European security are at serious risk.
The best defense? Massive participation at the polls – including from the #MoldovanDiaspora. Only the citizens of Moldova, not the Kremlin, should decide their country’s future.

The Rada corrected last week’s damaging vote undermining NABU’s & SAPO’s independence. Today’s law restores key safeguards, but challenges remain.
The EU supports 🇺🇦 citizens' demands for reform.
Upholding fundamental values & fighting corruption must remain the priority.
2/2 We all have a shared commitment to support transparency, independent institutions, and good governance, and we value our partnerships in Ukraine to combat corruption together.
1/2 The G7 is closely following today’s developments at NABU, including the investigation of several NABU employees for alleged crimes. We met today with NABU, have serious concerns and intend to discuss these developments with government leaders.
Congratulations to @NicusorDanRO on his historic victory in Romania’s presidential elections.
For Ukraine—as a neighbour and friend—it is important to have Romania as a reliable partner. And we are confident we will. By working together, we can strengthen both our countries and our Europe.
We will always have great respect for Romania and its people, especially given the support we received during the most difficult period in our history.
Dear Romanians, you can count on Ukraine as a good neighbor and partner. We can overcome any challenge if we are united and strong.
I look forward to further developing the strategic partnership between our friendly nations for the sake of their stability, security, and prosperity.
Breaking News: Nicusor Dan, Bucharest’s centrist mayor, won Romania’s presidential election in a setback for Europe’s nationalist forces. https://t.co/SrMgX6xFhO
A vote for #GeorgeSimion is a vote to follow Viktor Orbán’s path: attacks on the #RuleofLaw, blocked EU funds, and growing isolation.
Europe has seen this before. The cost for Hungary? €20 billion lost for roads, schools, farmers.
Let’s not repeat the same mistake.

8 reasons why George Simion as President of Romania would be bad news — not just for Romania, but for Europe
Some facts about George Simion, the extremist candidate that won the first round of the Romanian Presidential elections:
1⃣ He is banned from entering both Ukraine and Moldova for actions that threatened the territorial integrity of these two EU candidate countries.
2⃣ He openly supports — and is supported by — Călin Georgescu, a pro-Russian former presidential candidate who is currently under indictment for falsifying statements and supporting a fascist organization.
3⃣ Fiercely anti-European, he has repeatedly attacked the European Union, likening it to the Soviet Union.
4⃣He once physically assaulted the Minister of Energy inside the Romanian Parliament.
5⃣He has persistently and aggressively insulted fellow members of Parliament.
6⃣Simion has incited violence against electoral officials, even suggesting they be "skinned alive in the public square."
7⃣He has made wildly unrealistic promises — such as building homes for €35,000 — far below actual market prices and never fulfilled.
8⃣He shows disdain for democratic processes, refusing to engage in public debates with other candidates or journalists. After the election results, he vanished from public view, opting to send a pre-recorded video message instead.
George Simion is not a conservative politician. He is an anti-European extremist. His election would endanger Romania, threaten European stability, and serve as a strategic victory for Russia.
If he has managed to gain support through disinformation, manipulation, and growing anti-establishment sentiment, then it is our collective responsibility to speak out — to clearly inform the public about who George Simion really is, why he offers no viable solutions to Romania's challenges, and why his rise to power would be perilous for both Romania and Europe.
Russian influence does not stop at Ukraine’s borders. Extremists in Europe are using disinformation to destabilize democracies.
We must confront these threats head-on — not just in #Romania, but across the EU; not just in an electoral context, but whenever they seem to rise.
What Ukraine needs is peace, not capitulation.
President #Zelensky is right and he shall be supported by everyone who believes in freedom, independence and sovereignty.

Elon Musk tweets daily about Romania.
Not because he knows Romania.
Not because he cares about Romania.
But because he wants to interfere with the upcoming presidential elections.
He is supporting a radical candidate, he is attacking the Rule of Law, the judiciary and key institutions.
He does it in #Romania, he does it in #Germany and he will do it in every country holding significant elections any time soon.
Be aware, inform yourselves well, judge and make your own informed decisions.
