Day 2 of our 6 p.m. swarm to remind our legislators that Tier 6 reform must be included in the state budget. UFT members are UNITED in calling for this reform THIS YEAR. We cannot wait. The future of our education system depends on it.

Tag your senator and assemblymember. Tag the governor, Carl Heastie, and Andrea Stewart-Cousins to let them know: Any budget without significant Tier 6 reform should receive a NO vote. Workers across the state are standing together behind this — and we expect the officials we’ve elected to do the right thing.

No parent should ever lose a child to a dangerous product.

We reintroduced Tyler's Law, named for 10-month-old Tyler Jonathan, who lost his life due to a defective crib. This bill requires hospitals, medical examiners, and coroners to report child deaths and injuries linked to consumer products to the CPSC within seven days.

The system is too slow. Dangerous products stay on shelves too long. Families pay the price.
