Some taxi drivers in Polokwane, Limpopo, have had an opportunity to experience a prototype electric minibus taxi that is set to be introduced in South Africa.

The 15-seater electric taxi takes between six and eight hours to charge and has a range of approximately 200–250km, depending on factors such as the load, road conditions and speed.

According to the pioneers, the plan is also to establish charging points at locations that are easily accessible to operators, including taxi ranks.

Soon after taking delivery, he noticed several issues that made him suspect the bakkie had been repaired before it was sold. These reportedly included signs of repainted panels, bodywork repairs, poor panel alignment, and other cosmetic defects that he says should not exist on a new vehicle.

He then had the vehicle independently inspected, and the findings allegedly supported his concerns that parts of the vehicle had undergone repairs prior to delivery.

The buyer approached the dealership seeking a remedy, but the dispute escalated after the parties could not agree on how the matter should be resolved.

Nissan says it is investigating the complaint and has maintained that it is following its customer complaint process while engaging with the customer. The matter has not yet been resolved.

Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba has warned women in leadership positions to be cautious about allowing their younger romantic partners, commonly referred to as "Ben 10s", to influence their personal lives and leadership decisions.

Speaking during the official handover of a newly built house to the family of conjoined twins in Lulekani on Wednesday, Ramathuba said the downfall of many women in leadership positions is often linked to the influence of their "Ben 10" partners.

She urged women leaders to remain focused on their responsibilities and not allow personal relationships to interfere with their decision-making or public duties.
