The BJP is working on multiple fronts as it prepares for the #Punjab Assembly elections.
Key election strategy: 2T–2D
2T: Turban & Tickets: greater Sikh representation by fielding more Sikh candidates.
2D: Drugs & Debt : making drug abuse and farmers' debt the central campaign issues.
The party is also expected to significantly ramp up its digital campaign.
The broader strategy is to build a wider social coalition through candidate selection while making drugs and debt the core political narrative.
In parallel, the BJP is also working to strengthen its outreach to religious deras across Punjab in an effort to expand support among their followers, particularly within sections of the Dalit community.

The decision to ban #Satluj may have created a larger political problem for the BJP than the film itself.
From a historical perspective, the period depicted in the film largely relates to events between 1984 and 1995,a time when the BJP was neither the ruling party in Punjab nor in power at the Centre for most of those years. The key political decisions and law-and-order developments of that era unfolded under successive Congress-led governments and, later, the National Front government. By stepping into the controversy now, the BJP has effectively allowed itself to become the focal point of a debate over a period with which it was not directly associated.
The move also appears to have triggered the classic Streisand effect. Instead of limiting the film's reach, the ban has dramatically increased public curiosity. Copies are reportedly circulating widely across WhatsApp groups, with even less tech-savvy older generations asking their children to cast the film onto television screens. What might have remained a niche release has now become a subject of mass political and social discussion.
Politically, the episode also raises questions about whether the induction of Ravneet Bittu into the BJP has had unintended consequences, drawing the party into a controversy that offers little strategic upside while shifting attention away from its own political narrative.
In politics, attempts to suppress a narrative often end up amplifying it. The #Satluj controversy may prove to be another example of that principle in action.

Rajya Sabha Election Update
Three former Rajya Sabha MPs who resigned from the TMC have joined the BJP.
Former MPs Sushmita Dev, Prakash Chik Baraik, and Sukhendu Sekhar Roy joined the BJP in the presence of West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya.
All three are almost certain to be renominated as Rajya Sabha candidates.
Given the current strength of numbers, the BJP is expected to win all three seats.

"Ethanol" is, sorry to say, an upper-middle-class issue. It dominates policy discussions and social media debates, but rarely the electoral priorities of the median voter.
When middle- and lower-middle-class voters make up their minds, they're usually responding to everyday concerns-
inflation, jobs, income, welfare delivery, and law & order.
The lesson from past elections is straightforward: what trends on X isn't always what decides the ballot box.

The story of the Punjab Congress never seems to change, only the faces do.
Every election cycle, factionalism, leadership tussles, and personal ambitions resurface just when the party needs unity the most. From Captain Amarinder vs. Bajwa to Channi vs. Warring, the script remains remarkably similar. Even after the latest organisational reshuffle, internal dissent has once again taken centre stage, raising fresh questions over the party's preparedness for the 2027 Assembly elections.
