500 years ago, there were two great royal houses, "Kira" and "Silvamillion" in an endless political struggle. Silvamillion held the royal authority, but Lumiere went missing, Tetia was declared dead. Having lost heirs, royal authority passed on to House Kira. House Kira stole the elven magic and eventually acquired Light magic.

Silvamillion split after their House prestige waned into Silva and Vermillion. House Kira's royal rule was maintained but public order worsened bc dissatisfaction with governance. The magic knights system got introduced at the counsel of House Silva & Vermillion. At this point the latter 2 Houses gained military standing and political voice rivalling the king.

At this point, magic knights consisted of two squads, the Silver Eagles and Crimson Lions, but in time a supreme commander was chosen to lead them - the Wizard King. This name has already taken on a life of its own as a legend after Lumiere defeated the demon god. The Wizard King holds authority equal to the king in military matters, and when the king is unable to take part in governance, he is granted the power to effectively administer the nation's politics as its chancellor.

From the 2nd through the 10th generations, the Wizard Kings came from House Silva and House Vermillion. But as the years passed, the captains and members changed with each generation, new squads were added, and "achievements" came to carry ever greater weight in the selection of the Wizard King. The first Wizard King chosen from outside those two houses was Princia Funnybunny.
