On behalf of the Republic of South Africa, Minister Thembi Simelane delivered the country's statement at the High-Level Meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on the Midterm Review of the New Urban Agenda.

The meeting, takes place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. It provides an opportunity to assess global progress in implementing the New Urban Agenda and to strengthen international cooperation towards sustainable, inclusive, and resilient human settlements.

A symbolic handover of 18 title deeds to senior citizens in Mamelodi ahead of Nelson Mandela Day. A total of 300 title deeds were issued to qualifying beneficiaries, reaffirming government's commitment to restoring dignity, security of tenure, and homeownership.

The delegation will symbolically hand over 18 title deeds as part of the more than 300 title deeds that will be issued to senior citizens in Mamelodi in commemoration of Mandela Day on 18 July 2026.
