This tragic event that took place at the Downtown Suites motel on Samuell Boulevard in Dallas, Texas, on September 10, 2025.
The Dispute
The incident began as a dispute over a broken washing machine. The motel manager, 50-year-old Chandra Nagamallaiah, told an employee/maintenance worker, 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, not to use the broken machine. Cobos-Martinez became enraged because the manager had used a co-worker to translate the instruction rather than speaking to him directly.
The Attack
Cobos-Martinez pulled out a machete and began attacking Nagamallaiah. The manager fled across the parking lot toward the motel's front office screaming for help. The attacker chased him down and continued the assault in front of the manager's wife and son, who ran out and desperately tried to intervene.
The Gruesome Details
Cobos-Martinez pushed the family away, fatally stabbed the manager, and beheaded him. Witnesses and local police reported that the attacker kicked the victim's decapitated head across the parking lot before picking it up and placing it in a nearby trash bin.
The Aftermath
Cobos-Martinez was arrested by police blocks away from the motel shortly after the incident. He was covered in blood and found to be in possession of the machete. He was charged with capital murder by the Dallas Police Department.

Bob Myers defends Jaylen Brown after Max Kellerman said analytics don’t favor him. Myers points out, “You know who else analytics didn’t favor? Klay Thompson. Analytics doesn’t value the nuances of the game like shutting down the opposing teams best player
Draymond Green says the Jaylen Brown situation threw him for a loop:
“I’m just like all of a sudden a guy being smart is an issue. Like, by the way, I think I’m pretty smart individual. I think I got a pretty decent head on my shoulders. Jaylen Brown is brilliant. I don’t pretend to be that smart. I don’t want anybody to think I think I’m that smart, but he is like he actually is that smart. And when I say smart, right, like as you know, there’s book smarts, there’s street smarts, there’s so many different type of smarts when you’re talking smart. But the smart that Jaylen Brown is, he’s book smart. He’s street smart. The things that he knows and that he understands.”
