Students and staff from Keppel-Sarawak were very lucky to have the opportunity to learn from Caley Nadjiwon Doran over 2 days in June. Caley lead hikes to Nawash Park along the Wiidosendiwag Walking Together Tour and shared Anishinaabe cultural experiences with students.
We are so lucky to have professional lacrosse player Marshall Powless with us at Keppel-Sarawak today. Marshall shared his knowledge about the First Nations origins of Lacrosse and taught students introductory skills during his workshops. @RisingStarsAE@BluewaterDSB
I was very lucky to spend the last two days as guest admin at Beavercrest Community in Markdale. I was appreciative of the whiteboard in the hall that let me do math with several different students.
I got to cover a kindergarten class this morning. While Valentine's Day in kindergarten is an experience, it did result in some lovely moments of kindness and joy....and decoding to spell words.
To celebrate World Read Aloud Day, Grade 1-H listened to Jared Chapman read "Seals are Jerks" and participated in a drawing activity with him after the reading. Thanks for the opportunity @Scholastic.
Thanks to Coach Jordan and Kellie McMillen for running a lacrosse workshop for all our kindergarten and grade 1 classes today. It was great to see so many students experiencing a new and exciting sport.
Used today's snowday for some math and ended up using parts-whole boxes as part of a grade 2 number talk on halving numbers. The odd estimate lead to a rich conversation about finding half of 17. #mtbos
Our school is so lucky to have such generous organizations in our community. This donation to our breakfast program ensures that every student can start their day with a full stomach. Thank you to South Bruce Peninsula ATV Club for this amazing donation.
Math during a lunch duty coverage is never pretty. But this image lead to some great math discussion after a quick notice and wonder. We worked on solving the value of the whole image if the green triangle was 1. We multipled fractions, used parts whole boxes and more! #mtbos
