One day I will be a notable activist supporting opportunities for all individuals, but today I’m still learning! Follow my journey. I hope you learn something too! 😊
MTS is looking for Womxn to perform in a Variety Show, feature visual art and sell custom items at our International Womxn’s Day Event March 8! Please share so we can get more talented ladies involved!! Messaged me if you or a friend are interested!
When I became a social worker people thanked me for my service like a first responder. At first it felt extreme because first responders willingly work in potentially dangerous environments. Then I realized that physical harm and mental/emotional harm are equally as dangerous.
Sometimes, when my kiddos ask me really great questions about their situation, I think to myself, “How can I sum up the complexities of society in a way 8yos could understand?” If you have the answer.. send it my way 😪
Not only does it help to see that other people share my same issues and think my same negative thoughts, but it’s also so great to not have my place of employment keep up some charade of perfection. I feel respected when my bosses validate the company’s faults.
It is so relieving to work in a place that allows me to vent about all of my work-related problems without instantly trying to fix things or telling me to get over it.
I’m also co-instructing the Sex and Gender break-out at our 1st annual sex education conference! Check out the other sessions on the Facebook page and register for your favorites! 👍🏼
Two years ago I hoped I’d one day have a career that involved teaching diversity awareness and comprehensive sex education. Today, I taught 3 high school health classes and I’m scheduled to speak at a little conference in January 😊
I’m approaching my 1 year anniversary as a Foster Care Case Manager and my biggest goal for the next year is to not work from my phone when I take PTO #SocialWorkerProblems
Thank you so much to @MeTooSGF @XiOmicronIota@MoStateSigTau @greendotmostate and @mostatethetachi for partnering with us for Bear With Us!
100+ people came and heard what we strongly believe in. We’re so grateful to be part of the work toward making SGF a more inclusive place!
Tackling destructive emotions and practicing loving-kindness is how we should live in the here and now. I am convinced we can become happier individuals, happier communities and a happier humanity by cultivating a warm heart, allowing our better selves to prevail.
As a social worker with a majority of clientele being from low-income, rural, white America I truly think this could solve enough of our society’s problems to eventually put ME out of a job. This could better the lives of our children and our future. Ask me why!
It’s very difficult to be the type of case manager I want to be under the policies, procedures, and conditions currently in place throughout the system.
Welfare = the resources needed for generationally oppressed families to achieve stability, health and basic needs in a first world country that funnels money to the wealthy and the war.
Myth: social services = welfare = govt giving lazy people free money
Fact: social services = public & private agencies using public & private funds to support citizens that lack the resources needed to service themselves as a result of a historically oppressive social system.
