@ABetterOttawa The 6&7 really need bus lanes. No real alternate street for them. And while bus lanes may not be needed "all day," the times they are — morning, noon, evening, weekends — mean the design should be good enough that cars don't violate them. i.e. solid red paint and all day use.

@NSaravanamuttoo Key policy in solving housing crisis too — people are invested in high home prices because their retirement depends on it

Went for a walk in #SandyHill since the sidewalks were actually plowed. Still sucked. Icy, slippery, uneven, flooded sidewalks made me once again opt to walk in the road. Annoying for me but an impossible barrier for anyone with mobility issues.

@DevineSean We were in Montreal last winter, the day after a huge snow storm. The sidewalks and bike lanes were pristine, cleared immediately. It was fantastic. Get back home and our neighbourhood still hadn't been ploughed 🙃
I have to assume it's a virtue of the borough system.
@NSaravanamuttoo Seems like if he wants more people getting to Lansdowne he could just... put more bike racks there and achieve the same result without this crusade? Actually, probably a better result
@ArielTroster@CityNewsOttawa@NCC_CCN Agree! Bus lanes on Bank St are long overdue. Routes 6 and 7 are among the busiest in the city yet show up late almost 30% of the time because they're forced to wade through traffic. No wonder ridership is low...
@_MarkSutcliffe Idk maybe we could just do it bc it's enjoyable and it literally reduces traffic and emissions to give cars less space...? We're falling so behind places like Montreal and NYC not just on climate action but offering basic joy and wellbeing for residents

@laine_johnson1 Less cars = less collisions and close calls. Gladstone is one of many streets that could use a road diet. Converting a lane or two to bus only would decrease traffic and speed up the 14 so it's a more reliable option
@ArielTroster Will they be permanent lanes? We have peak hour lanes on Rideau and they are simply a joke. Traffic violations are much higher without solid red paint treatment to clearly communicate the lane is not for cars
@ArielTroster Absolutely! Two of the busiest routes in the city use Bank, the 6 and the 7, and they're late 30% of the time because they're stuck in traffic
@MichaelLeoM@RiverWardRiley@deellisd We have a peak hour lane on Rideau and it's... a joke. Without solid red paint, they are fairly useless — as some data of traffic violations per hour in San Francisco shows
