This morning’s @SpaceX mission from pad 40 was the last planned Falcon 9 Starlink launch from Florida (and it launched on the fleet leading booster!!), marking the end of an era for these launches on the East Coast. From here on, Starlink missions out of Florida will fly on Starship. The West Coast team will continue regularly launching Starlink from Vandenberg.
Super proud of this incredible team. You’ve made Falcon 9 the most reliable launch vehicle in history. You also helped build the largest low-Earth orbit satellite constellation providing connectivity to millions around the world, and you’ve set the foundation for what’s next.
In the last seven years, Falcon has flown ~260 Starlink missions from the Cape… can’t wait until we launch that and many more with Starship!
Introducing Starbase, Louisiana – a high-cadence launch site that will enable Starship to open a pathway to the stars for humanity.
Thank you to @LAGovJeffLandry and the great people of Louisiana for all of their support as we work together on this audacious project → https://t.co/zGKVOGSxfW
@SpaceX@gleesonjm Unfortunately, ship recovery is not looking good right now.
Nonetheless, we were able to obtain close-up photos of critical regions of the heat shield and engines for future upgrades.
Timelapse of the ISS Optimal Propellent Maneuver (OPM)! We use this to reorient station's attitude in preparation for docking events. This one occurred over some magnificent Mediterranean city lights!
It’s that time of year again where the anti-space, anti space colonisation/exploration Neanderthals come out of their holes and whine about a fucking zit sized hole being made on the moon
the moon is very big.
you can crash shit into it, you can mine it for minerals, you can build bases on it, and it still won’t change the tides or how it looks in the night sky.
so what’s the issue here?
I stopped watching Kurzgesagt years ago after they were exposed and decided to watch this video as I was curious (huge mistake)
Absolutely terrible, they try to cover their ridiculous doomerism with "well maybe it could happen, the NYT was wrong about humans flying!"
Interstellar is VERY hard with not a lot of rewards for the ones onboard but, we tend to forget people exist that will give their whole lives to a mission exploring another solar system and we know how to design the vehicles for such.
We will 100% see interstellar unmanned probe missions in our lifetime and possibly even manned ones. Humans will always push towards the next frontier, this weird anti-space doomerism is not going to stop us
On 12 August there will be a partial solar eclipse from the UK. ☀️ 🌑 🌍
Starting at 6.13pm, maximum eclipse will occur at 7.10pm with around 90-96% of the Sun being obscured, and ends at 8.03pm.
