@VoicesfromNam It's JFK's fault. Once you get in for some holy cause, you cannot back out. It wasn't America's fight, and when Americans got in, the Vietnamese peasants thought White men were coming to take their rice farms again. It's doubtful that JFK knew where Vietnam was. Nobody did.
@kurtsaltrichter During the Internet bubble, if there were a peer competitor that could take over the World Wide Web and dominate the world economy for the foreseeable future, would it still pop as it did?
@diogojoma@Handre The ruling class fundamentally agreed with Marx, except that they cannot swallow the part that called for their own instant extermination. Therefore they clenched on the softer version which lured them deeper into the trap. Now the trap is finally closing.
@Handre Now, if the boom phase is controlled into building infrastructure and manufacturing capabilities, wouldnโt it cause deflation instead of inflation? And deflation is fundamentally good for the average Joe.
@kurtsaltrichter China could not use inflation as a tool like everywhere else in the world, which might be a unique feature of the Chinese culture. So they have no option but to grow out of this debt.
BTW, people love deflation.
@christinelu@Reuters It's the intent to provoke that is worrisome. Taiwan has no means or even intention to defend itself. It's defense strategy depends solely on being gay and following American culture fads. Provoking China under this setup is very dangerous for the American public.
